OF COSTA MESA September 25, 1963 The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa met in special session at the call of the Mayor, due notice having been given pursuant to the provisions of Section 5+956 of the Government Code, at the Council Chamber in the City Hall, 695 West 19th Street, Costa Mesa, at the hour of 12:00 o'clock noon, September 25, 1963. The meeting was called to order by the Mayor, followed by the Pledge of Allegi- ance to the Flag and invocation by Councilman John Smith. Councilmen Present: Meyers, Smith, Wilson, Pinkley Roll Call Councilmen Absent: Jordan Officials Present: City Manager, City Attorney, Director of Public Works, City Clerk, Director of Planning The Mayor announced that the Special Meeting had been called for the purpose of ,accepting a deed for five acres for the Estancia park site from the Segerstrom family. Estancia Grant Deed The City Attorney then presented a Grant Deed dated and conditions September 23, 1963, from ANTON H. SEGERSTROM and NELLIE RUTH SEGERSTROM, husband and wife; HAROLD T. SEGERSTROM and VERONICA P. SEGERSTROM, husband and wife; HENRY T. SEGERSTROM and YVONNE deC. SEGERSTROM, husband and wife; HAROLD T. SEGERSTROM, JR. and JEANNETTE E. SEGERSTROM; husband and wife; and ANN SEGERSTROM, being a gift of five acres of land including the Estancia Adobe on Adams Street. The City Attorney informed the Council that the gift was.subject to the following conditions: 1. The adobe now located on said land shall never be removed from the property or destroyed. 2. This land is to be forever used as a historical monu- ment and/or museum, library or park. 3. In theevent any one of the conditions is violated, title shall revert to the grantors, their heirs and assigns. The City Manager stated that the City already has acquired 5.09 acres adjoining the Estancia property by purchase. Upon motion by Councilman Meyers, seconded by Councilman Deed accepted Smith, the deed was accepted and ordered placed upon record by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen: Meyers, Smith, Wilson, Pinkley NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: Jordan Letter cf appreciation The Mayor expressed the deep and sincere gratitude of the to Segerstrom family City Council for the Segerstrom family's gift, and on motion by Councilman Wilson, seconded by Councilman Meyers, and carried, the City Clerk was instructed to send a letter of appreciation to the family. Authorization given to The City Manager requested authorization to proceed with proceed with plans for the preservation of the Estancia and the development of Estancia Park the park area, and on motion by Councilman Wilson, seconded by Councilman Smith, and carried, the City Manager was instructed to prepare the necessary plans. Special Meeting called The Mayor announced that he was calling a Special Bay Ready Mix plant Meeting of the City Council for Monday evening, September relocation 30, 1963, for the purpose of discussion of possible action 1 Special Meeting called in relation to the proposed relocation of the Bay Ready Continued Mix plant in the City.of Newport Beach close to a resi- dential area of the City of Costa Mesa.
