ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF COSTA MESA
February. 28,'1966
The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa met in
adjourned regular session at 4:45 p.m., February 28,
1966, in the Council Chamber at the City Hall, 695 West
19th Street, Costa Mesa, said meeting having been duly
and regularly adjourned from the regular meeting of Feb-
ruary 21, 1966, and a copy of the notice of adjournment
having been posted as required by law.
Councilmen Present: Pinkley, Jordan, Barck, Thompson,
Wilson
Roll Call Councilmen Absent: None
Officials Present: City Manager, Acting City Attorney,
Director of Public Works, City
Engineer, Director,of Finance,.City
Clerk, together with officers and
members of Costa Mesa City Hall and
Public Safety Facilities, Incorpor-
ated, and representatives of the
William J. Moran Company and Bache
and Company.
Non-profit The Mayor called the meeting to order and the Costa
corporation bonds Mesa Civic Center Committee reported that the rising
discussed bond market might require the offering of the non-profit
corporation bonds at a rate of 4.37 instead of the lower
rate previously considered. After discussion of com-
parative costs, Councilman Jordan moved that action on
an offering at 4.37 be tabled. The motion was seconded
by Councilman Pinkley, and carried.
Bache and Company Councilman Pinkley then moved that Bache and Company
to offer bond issue be given a firm commitment to offer the bond issue at
4.25, the commitment to expire March 14th. The motion
was seconded by Councilman Jordan, and carried.
Internal Revenue Acting City Attorney Roy June and Attorney George Tobias
tax of the for the Costa Mesa Golf Course and'Country Club Corp -
corporation oration requested authorization to check with Washington
offices and, if necessary, go to Washington to expedite
decision on the Internal Revenue tax position of the
corporation. On motion by Councilman Pinkley, seconded
by Councilman Barck, and carried, the authorization was
granted.
Leasing of City The City Manager requested authorization to enter into
Hall negotiations with the State Department of Motor Vehicles
regarding the leasing of the present City Hall property
to the Department, occupancy to be effective upon the
completion of the new Civic Center. On motion by Coun-
cilman Barck, seconded by Councilman Jordan, and carried,.
the authorization was granted.
Roy June appointed
Acting City
Attorney
The City Council then retired into executive session for
the consideration of personnel matters. On motion by
Councilman Barck, seconded by Councilman Pinkley, and
carried, Attorney Roy June was appointed Acting City
Attorney until the end of the current fiscal year,
with agreement on compensation to be reached by
negotiation.
Adjournment On motion by Councilman Barck, seconded by Council-
man Jordan, and carried, the meeting adjourned at -
5:10 P.M.
