HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/19/1966 - Adjourned City Council MeetingRoll Call Golf Course Warrant authorized ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA April 19, 1966 The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa met in adjourned regular session at 6:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers at the City Hall, 695 West 19th Street, Costa Mesa, said meeting having been duly and regularly ordered adjourned from the regular meeting of April 18, 1966, and a copy of the notice of adjournment having been posted as required by law. Councilmen Present: Pinkley, Jordan, Wilson, Barck, Thompson Councilmen Absent: None Officials Present: City Manager, City Attorney, Director of Public Works, City Engineer,. City Clerk The Director of Public Works presented an architectural agreement.and requested approval of preliminary plans for the golf course and for the architects to proceed with the working drawings, and he,also requested authorization for the Director of Finance to draw a warrant in the amount of $4,38+.00 payable to Riley and Bissell, to be reim- bursed by the golf course non-profit corporation. Upon motion by Councilman Pinkley, seconded by Councilman Barck, the Mayor and City Clerk were authorized to sign the architectural agreement for the golf course club house and building; approval was granted for the preliminary plans and for the architects to proceed with the working drawings; and the warrant was authorized by the follow- ing roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen: Pinkley, Jordan, Wilson, Barck, Thompson NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: None Awards presented Mr. Cliff Wesdorf, President of the Chamber of Commerce, presented a Certificate of Award to Mayor Wilson, and June Lindeman, "Miss California", presented a certifi- cate in token of appreciation to Mayor Wilson. Mr. Al Geiser, of the Chamber of Commerce, presented a bouquet of roses to Mrs. Robert Wilson in token of appreciation for her help to the Mayor in the performance of his many extra duties while holding the office of Mayor. Mr. Nick Ziener, manager of the Chamber of Commerce, pre- sented a Certificate of Award to Councilman Thompson, and Mayor Wilson presented a plaque from the City to Councilman Thompson in appreciation of his service as Councilman. Certificate of The City Clerk presented the certificate of canvass of canvass of returns the returns of the General Municipal Election held on April 12, 1966, showing that: Votes cast The whole number of votes cast in the City of Costa Mesa was 5,868. There were six (6) candidates for the office of City Councilman of the City of Costa Mesa for the full term of four years, two to be elected. TUCKER The number of votes.given in the City to each of such persons above named for the office for which said persons were candidates was as follows: (See tabulation) WILLARD T. JORDAN, having received 4,180 votes, was elected as a member of the City Council for the full term of four years. GEORGE A. TUCKER, having received 3,226 votes, was elected as a member of the City Council for the full term of four years. Upon motion by Councilman Pinkley, seconded by Council - Resolution 66-35 man Barck, Resolution 66-35, being A RESOLUTION OF THE Declaring the CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, RE - results of election CITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY OF COSTA MESA ON THE.I2TH DAY OF APRIL, 1966, DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW, was adopted by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen: Pinkley, Jordan, Wilson, Barck, Thompson NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: None The Clerk presented certificates of election to Council - Oaths of office man Willard T. Jordan and George A. Tucker and administered administered the oath of office. The Councilmen took their places at the Council table. Willard T. Jordan The City Clerk, acting as temporary chairman for the meet - elected as Mayor ing, announced that nominations were now open for the office of Mayor. Councilman Wilson nominated Councilman Jordan for Mayor, seconded by Councilman Pinkley, and carried by unanimous vote. The Clerk asked if there were any other nominations, and there being none, declared Councilman Jordan elected by unanimous vote. Greeter jacket Mayor Jordan thereupon assumed the chair, and Mr.. -.Cliff presented to Mayor Wesdorf, Mr. John Connell, and Miss June Lindeman pre- sented the gold jacket of the Chamber of Commerce Greeters Club to Mayor Jordan. Calvin F. Barck Mayor Jordan thereupon called for nominations for Vice elected Vice Mayor Mayor. Councilman Calvin F. Barck was nominated by Coun- cilman Pinkley, and elected Vice Mayor upon motion by Councilman Pinkley, seconded by Councilman Wilson, and carried. Appointments of Upon motion by Councilman Wilson, seconded by Councilman City Attorney, City Pinkley, Roy E: June was appointed City Attorney for a Clerk, City two-year term; C. K. Priest was appointed City Clerk for Treasurer a two-year term; and W. C.
