COSTA MESA April 16, 1968 The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa met in adjourned regular session at 7:30 p -m.;, in the Council Chambers at the City Hall, 77 Fair Drive,:Costa Mesa, said meeting having been duly.and regularly ordered adjourned from the regular meeting of April 15, 1968, and a copy of the notice of adjournment having been posted as required by law. Roll Call. Councilmen Present: Barck, Wilson, Jordan, Pinkley, Tucker Councilmen Absent: None Officials Present: City Manager, City Attorney, Director of Public Works, City Engineer, City Clerk Warrant Resolution Upon motion by Councilman Pinkley, seconded by Councilman 537 Barck, Warrant Resolution 537,was approved by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen: Barck, Wilson, Jordan, Pinkley, Tucker NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: None Don Hout On motion by ,Councilman Barck, seconded by Councilman Reappointed to. Wilson, and carried, Don Hout was reappointed as a member Planning Commission of the Planning Commission of the City of Costa Mesa for a four-year term, expiring on April 18,.1972. Resolution 68-33 The City Attorney said that a letter had been submitted to Country, Club No. 1 the City by the new owners of the Santa Ana Country Club Annexation requesting annexation to the City of Costa Mesa. On motion Application by Councilman Wilson, seconded by Councilman Tucker, Resolution 68-33, being A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, MAKING APPLICATION TO THE LOCAL AGENCY FORMATION COMMISSION FOR THE ANNEXATION OF TERRITORY, was adopted by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen: Barck, Wilson, Jordan, Pinkley, Tucker NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: None Certificate of The City Clerk presented the certificate of canvass of the Canvass of Returns returns of the General Municipal Election held on April 9, 1968, showing that: Votes Cast The whole number of votes cast in the City of Costa Mesa was 19,729• There were seven candidates for the office of City Council- man of the City of Costa Mesa for the full term of four years, three to be elected. The names of the persons voted for were: CALVIN F. (CAL) BARCK ALVIN L. PINKLEY ROBERT M. (BOB) WILSON THEODORE C. (TED) BOLOGH R. W. (BOB) CORY WILLIAM L. (BILL) ST. CLLAIR TERRY F. TUCHMAN The number of votes given in the City to each of such persons above named for the office for which said persons were candidates was as follows: (See tabulation) ALVIN L. WILSON, having received 4,168 votes, was elected Continued as a member.of the City Council for the full term of four years. WILLIAM L. ST. CLAIR, having received 3,515 votes, was elected as a member of the City Council for the full term of four years. Resolution 68-34 Upon motion by Councilman Barck, seconded by Councilman Declaring Results Pinkley, Resolution 68-34, being A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY of Election COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY OF COSTA MESA ON THE 9TH DAY OF APRIL, 1968, DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW, was adopted by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen: Barck, Wilson, Jordan, Pinkley, Tucker NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: None Gifts to Councilman The Mayor presented Councilman Barck with gifts from the Barck City of Costa Mesa and City personnel and expressed apprecia- tion for having done a good job for the four years Mr. Barck spent as a Councilman for the City of Costa Mesa. Oaths of Office The Clerk administered the oaths of office to Councilmen Admininstered Alvin L. Pinkley, Robert M. Wilson, and William L. St. Clair. He presented certificates of election to the three newly elected Councilmen, and they took their places at the Council table. Alvin L. Pinkley The City Clerk, acting as temporary chairman for the meeting, Elected as Mayor announced that nominations were now open for the office of Mayor. Councilman Jordan nominated Councilman Pinkley for Mayor, seconded by Councilman Wilson, and carried by unanimous vote, Councilman Pinkley abstaining. The Clerk asked if there were any other nominations, and there being none, declared Councilman Pinkley elected by unanimous vote. Committees Mayor Pinkley thereupon assumed the chair, and named the Appointed: following Councilmen to serve in the following capacities: Golf Course Willard T. Jordan: Liason between the City and the Golf Course; Freeway Robert M. Wilson: Freeiray Chairman; School George A. Tucker: Chairman of School Committee; William L. St. Clair: Member of'School Committee. Each Councilman accepted his appointment. Robert M. Wilson Councilman Pinkley then nominated Councilman Wilson for the Elected Vice Mayor office of Vice Mayor. The motion was seconded by Councilman Jordan, and carried by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen: Pinkley;`Jordan, Wilson NOES: Councilmen: Tucker, St. Clair ABSENT: Councilmen: None Roy E. June Upon motion by Councilman Wilson, seconded by Councilman Appointed City St. Clair, Roy E. -June -was appointed City Attorney for a Attorney two-year term by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen: Pinkley, Jordan, Wilson, Tucker, St. Clair NOES: f3ounci2men: None ABSENT: Councilmen: None C.
