HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/23/1977 - City Council Special MeetingRoll Call Redesign and Construction of TeWinkle Park Awarded The Peridian Group SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF COSTA MESA May 23, 1977 The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa met in special session at 2:00 p.m., May 23, 1977, in the fifth floor Conference Room of City Hall, 77 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa, California, at the call of the Mayor, notice having been duly given as required by law, and for the purpose of discussing such matters as authorized by law. Council Members Present: Hertzog, Hammett, Raciti, Smallwood, McFarland Council Members Absent: None Officials Present: City Manager, -Assistant City Manager, Assistant City Manager/Community -. Development, City Attorney, Director of Leisure Ser- vices, City Clerk Discussion was ,held concerning the redesign and construction of TeWinkle Park. The City Manager outlined the steps which must be taken to meet the Economic Development Administration requirements for Federal funding. One such step to be completed prior to June 12, 1977, is the transplanting of existing trees in the park, as well as some new tree planting. The City Manager recommended the firm of The Peridian Group, 446 North Newport Boulevard, Newport Beach, be awarded the contract for the rede- sign of the park, with a completion date of June 20, 1977. Thereafter bids will be received and the construction contract awarded on July 18, 1977. After discussion, on motion by Councilman Raciti, seconded by Councilwoman Smallwood, the landscape redesign contract for TeWinkle Park was awarded to The Peridian Group, and the Mayor and Clerk were authorized to sign on behalf of the City, by the following roll call vote: AYES: Council Members: Hertzog, Hammett, Raciti, McFarland, Smallwood NOES: Council Members: None ABSENT: Council Members: None Bid Item 353 - The City Manager recommended the award of Bid Item Trees for TeWinkle 353, Trees, TeWinkle Park Project, as follows: Park Boething Treeland Farms, Incorporated, 23475 Long Valley Road, Woodland Hills, $43,059.10; Bergen Awarded Nurseries, Post Office Box 219, Brea, $1,104.00; Boething Treeland Dodson Enterprises, Incorporated, 7014 North 27th Farms - Bergen Avenue, Phoenix, $9,985.00; and Rod J. Cupkie, 1025 Nurseries - East Chalynn Street, Orange, $875.00. On motion by Dodson Enterprises Vice Mayor Hammett, seconded by Councilman McFarland, - Rod J. Cupkie the bid was awarded as recommended, in the total amount of $55,023.10, by the following roll call vote: AYES: Council Members: Hertzog, Hammett, Raciti, McFarland, Smallwood NOES: Council Members: None ABSENT: Council Members: None 1 J 1 TeWinkle Park On motion. by Councilwoman Smallwood, seconded by Parking Lot Councilman Raciti, and carried, the City Manager was authorized to invite bids for the TeWinkle Park parking lot. fl Adjournment i 1 On motion by Councilman McFarland, seconded by Councilman Raciti, and carried, the Council endorsed a letter dated May 19, 1977, to the Economic Development Administration, outlining the City's phasing program of development for TeWinkle Park.
