HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/14/1977 - Adjourned City Council Meeting2.45 ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF COSTA MESA June 14, 1977 The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa met in adjourned regular session on June 14, 1977, at 2.:00 p.m., in the fifth floor Conference Room of City Hall, 77 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa, California, said meeting having been -duly and regularly ordered adjourned from the regular meeting of June 6, 1977, and a copy of the Notice of Adjournment having been posted as required by law. The meeting was called to order by the Mayor. Roll Call Council Members Present: Hertzog, Hammett, Raciti, Smallwood Council Members Absent: McFarland, Officials Present: City Manager, City Attorney, Director of Finance, City Clerk, Director of Personnel (arrived late) Retirement Committee Members Present: Fred Sorsabal, Bob Oman, Larry Bersch, Phil Mellott, Dorothy Pickens Retirement -Plan The Mayor announced that it was the intention of the for City Employees Council'to discuss the Retirement Plan with the mem- bers of the Retirement Committee in closed executive session. Jim Dibble, speaking for a group of Costa Mesa Firemen present, said that the firemen were vitally interested in the Retirement Plan and wanted to let the Council know its importance to them. The Mayor thanked them for coming to the meeting to express their interest. At 2:05 p.m., the Mayor adjourned the meeting to executive session in the fifth floor Conference Room and invited the Retirement Committee to remain for discussion on the Retirement Plan. The Director of Personnel and Harry Yamano of William Mercer, Incor- porated, Actuary for the City of Costa Mesa Employee Retirement Plan, arrived and were invited to stay in session with the Council. After lengthy discussion, on motion by Vice Mayor Hammett, seconded by Council- woman Smallwood, and carried unanimously, the Council received the Retirement Committee's recommendation and input and directed the City Manager to give considera- tion to improvement and modernization of the Retirement Plan, based on a financial balance and the Meet and Confer process, which will be approved by the City Council.
