HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/18/1980 - Adjourned City Council Meetinga' A0 A ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF COSTA MESA June 18, 1980 The City Council'of the City of Costa Mesa, California, met in adjourned 'regular session on June 18, 1980, at 3:30 p.m., in the fifth floor Conference Room of City Hall, 77 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa, said meeting having been duly and regularly ordered adjourned from the meeting of June 16, 1980, and a copy of the Notice of Adjournment having been posted as required by law. Roll Call Council Members Present: Schafer, Hall, Hertzog, McFarland, Johnson Council Members Absent: None Officials Present: City Manager, City Attorney, Development Services Director, Planning Commission Chairman, Deputy City Clerk Interview of The meeting was called to order by Mayor Schafer at Applicants for 3:30 p.m., to interview the remaining applicants for the Planning three positions which will be open on the Planning Com - Commission mission as of July 1, 1980. The interview of Walter Davenport had been conducted on June 14, 1980. The first applicants to be interviewed by the Council were: Jorge D. Alvarez, William Bandaruk, Bruce Corzine, and Maureen DiDomenico. Recess The Mayor declared a recess at 4:30 p.m. and the meeting reconvened at 5:00 p.m. The interviews continued with the following applicants appearing: The Reverend Conrad A. Nordquist, Jr., Charles L. Ropp, Ray Torrey, Lynn Van Aken, and Richard E. Victor. Recess The Mayor declared a recess'at 6:10 p.m. and the meeting reconvened at 6:15 p.m. The last interviews were held with the following appli- cants: Virginia L. Kidder, Ramona Sawyer Watson, J. Scott Williams, and Cheryle Markel Ersavas. Adjournment The Mayor declared the meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m. Mayor -of the City of Costa Mesa ATTEST: V" City Clerk of the City of Costa esa r - At 7:15 p.m. discussion ensued concerning input received from the applicants. Because of a prior commitment, Councilman Councilman McFarland left the meeting at 7:25 p.m., but McFarland before doing so, gave his selections for the positions. Leaves After lengthy discussion and process of elimination, a motion was made by Vice Mayor Hall, seconded by Council - Commissioners woman Hertzog, and carried, Councilman McFarland absent, Appointed appointing the following applicants as members of the Costa Mesa Planning Commission for a term of four years, from July 1, 1980, through June 30, 1984: Walter Daven- port, Lynn Van Aken, and Ramona Sawyer Watson. Mayor Schafer announced that she and Vice Mayor Hall would contact all applicants at once to advise them of the outcome of the meeting.
