HomeMy WebLinkAbout09/29/1980 - Adjourned City Council Meeting0 ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF COSTA MESA September 29, 1980 The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, California, met in adjourned regular session on September 29, 1980, at 6:30 p.m., in the fifth floor Conference Room of City Hall, 77 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa, said meeting having been duly and regularly ordered adjourned from the regular meeting of September 15, 1980, and a copy of the Notice of Adjournment having been posted as required by law. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Schafer. Roll Call Council Members Present: Schafer, Hall, McFarland, Johnson (Councilwoman Hertzog arrived at 7:20 p.m.) Counci.l.Members Absent: Officials Present: None City Manager, Director of Public Services, City Clerk (City Attorney arrived at 7:05 p.m.) Interviews of Applicants for the three positions to be filled on the Applicants for Traffic Commission were scheduled for interviews at this Traffic time. The first applicants to be interviewed were: Commission Derald D. Hunt and Wayne E. Kraiss, both presently serv- ing on the Commission; Robert Wolfe; and Julian D. Scherer. Recess The Mayor declared a recess at 7:55 p.m. and the meeting reconvened at 8:10 p.m. At this time, the following applicants were interviewed: Connie Simmons, Patricia Skillman, Mark Sloate, Glenn Tudor, and George Nakai. After discussion concerning input received from the applicants and process of elimination, a motion was made by Councilman McFarland, seconded by Mayor Schafer, to appoint the following three applicants for a four- year term which will expire on June 30, 1984: Derald D. Hunt, Wayne E. Kraiss, and Mark Sloate. The motion carried unanimously. Public Hearing The Clerk announced that this was the time and place set Parking Districts for the public hearing to consider a proposed resolution Augmentation Fund allocating money from the Special District Augmentation Fund to Vehicle Parking Districts No. 1 and No. 2. The Affidavit of Publication is on file in the Clerk's of- fice. No communications have been received. On motion by Vice Mayor Hall, seconded by Councilman McFarland, Resolution 80-90 Resolution 80-90, being A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THAT THE AUDITOR -CONTROLLER OF THE COUNTY OF ORANGE DISTRIBUTE TO VEHICLE PARKING DISTRICT NUMBERS ONE AND TWO OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, THEIR PROPORTIONATE SHARES OF THE SPECIAL DISTRICT AUGMENTATION FUND, was adopted by the following roll call vote: AYES: Council Members: Schafer, Hall, Hertzog, McFarland, Johnson NOES: Council Members: None ABSENT: Council Members: None Planning The City Manager recommended that the salary increase Commissioners for the City's Planning Commissioners, approved by Salaries Council at their regular meeting held on September 15, 1 1 1 1980; be formalized by adoption of a resolution. On motion by Vice Mayor Hall, seconded by Councilwoman Resolution 80-91 Hertzog, Resolution 80-91, being A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, SETTING THE SALARIES OF THE PLANNING COMMISSIONERS AND PROVIDING FOR CERTAIN ALLOWANCES AND LIMITATIONS IN CONNECTION WITH THEIR COMPENSATION, was adopted by the following roll call vote: AYES: Council Members: Schafer, Hall, Hertzog, McFarland, Johnson NOES: Council Members: None ABSENT: Council Members: None Adjournment to At 10:10 p.m., the Mayor adjourned the meeting to an Executive Session Executive Session for the purpose of discussing person- nel matters.
