CITY OF COSTA MESA
OCTOBER 11, 1982
At the call of the Mayor, the City Council of the City
of Costa Mesa, California, met in special session on
October 11, 1982, at 1:50 p.m., in the fifth floor
Conference Room of City Hall, 77 Fair Drive, Costa
Mesa, notice having been duly given as required by law.
The special meeting was called for the purpose of dis-
cussing personnel matters.

Officials Present: City. Manager, Personnel
Director, City Clerk
After roll call was taken by the City Clerk, the Mayor
adjourned the meeting to a closed session to discuss
personnel matters.
The City Manager presented a Memorandum of Understanding
between the City and the Costa Mesa Police Association
which contains the following provisions:
(1) Salary increase of 6.25 percent effective
October 3, 1982, and increase of 5 percent
effective July 10, 1983, for Police Officer,
Senior Police Officer, Police Sergeant,
Police Lieutenant, Evidence Technician, and
Photo Laboratory Supervisor;
(2) Salary increase of 2.5 percent effective
October 3, 1982, and increase of 2.5 percent
effective July 10, 1983, for Animal Control
Officer, Custody Officer, Laboratory and
Equipment Technician, Police Aide, Property
and Evidence Technician, and Senior Police
Aide;
(3) A provision to increase the sick leave
payoff from 1/3 to 1/2 after July, 1983;
(4) Police employees will be able to participate
in the existing self-funded dental plan.
(5) The City will pay an additional $10.00 per
month toward medical coverage which coin-
cides with this year's rate increase, and
also pay up to an additional $10.00 should
there be another rate increase prior to
August 1, 1984.
MOTION On motion by Vice Mayor Hall, seconded by Councilwoman
Memorandum Hertzog, the Memorandum of Understanding was received

ing roll call vote:

Salary Increases On motion by Vice Mayor Hall, seconded by Councilman
for Police McFarland, Resolution 82-77, being A RESOLUTION OF THE
Personnel CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, ESTABLISHING THE
BASIC PAY SCHEDULE, ESTABLISHING THE RATES OF PAY FOR
MOTION CLASSIFICATIONS AND EMPLOYEES PLACED UNDER THE BASIC
Resolution 82-77 PAY SCHEDULE, was adopted by the following roll call

ADJOURNMENT The Mayor declared the meeting adjourned at 2:05 p.m.
