ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF COSTA MESA
AUGUST 19, 1986
The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, California,
met in adjourned regular session on August 19, 1986, at
7:00 p.m., at the Costa Mesa Mobile Estates, 327 West
Wilson Street, Costa Mesa. The meeting was duly and
regularly ordered adjourned from the regular meeting of
August 18, 1986, and a copy of the Notice of Adjournment
was posted as required by law. The meeting was called
to order by the Mayor.
ROLL CALL Council Members Present: Hertzog, Hornbuckle, Hall,
Wheeler
Council Members Absent: Schafer
Officials Present: City Manager, Fire Chief,
Fire Marshal, Fire Suppression
Chief, City Clerk
Fire Safety in The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.,
Costa Mesa explaining to the residents of the mobile home park that
Mobile Estates Fire Department personnel were present to give them
information about what can be done for their safety in
the event that a fire erupts in that area.
Fire Chief John Petruziello spoke about fire prevention
and teaching the public to react properly to best help
themselves. He explained the difference when a fire
burns in a metal mobile home versus a mobile home with
combustible roof and sides.
Fire Chief Petruziello spoke about having areas in the
city pre -planned where ingress and egress are located,
where electrical and plumbing hazards and controls are,
so that when an emergency happens, there is already a
plan of action drawn up.
Fire Suppression Chief Ken Soltis had a diagram of the
mobile home park posted and pointed out ingress and
egress, where fire hydrants were located, where fire
trucks would beā¢stationed, the length of the hoses, and
also stated that a paramedic van would be on standby
in the event there was an injury.
There was a question and answer period with Fire Chief
Petruziello, Fire Marshal Tom Macduff, and Fire
Suppression Chief Ken Soltis taking part.
Residents were encouraged to take fire safety printed
material displayed on a table, and it was also suggested
that the residents contact Lisa Jones of the Costa Mesa
Fire Department, who makes presentations to groups on
safety measures to be taken in case of fire.
ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m. to August 25,
1986, at 2:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers of City
Hall, to discuss Meet and Confer.
