ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF COSTA MESA
OCTOBER 6, 1989
The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, California,
met in adjourned regular session October 6, 1989, at
8:15 a.m., at the Country Side Inn, 325 Bristol Street,
Costa Mesa. The meeting was duly and regularly ordered
adjourned from the regular meeting of October 2, 1989,
and copies of the Notice of Adjournment were posted as
required by law. The meeting was called to order by the
Mayor.

COUNCIL MEMBERS ABSENT: None

ADJOURNMENT TO After roll call was taken, Mayor Buffa adjourned the
CLOSED SESSION meeting to a closed session, and the City Manager and
Personnel Services Director summarized the interview
process for Council. The following individuals were

'The Mayor reconvened the meeting at 11:25 a.m., and the

Council had lunch with staff and the candidates.

At 12:50 p.m., the Mayor adjourned the meeting to a

reinterviewed each candidate. Upon conclusion of the
interviews, Council discussed the merits of each appli-

and carried 5-0, to offer the position of City Attorney

Personnel Department; and the City Manager was directed
to negotiate the terms of employment with a benefit
package equal to that offered to other City management
personnel, and a salary up to that equal to the compen-
sation paid to the former City Attorney.
MOTION A motion was made and seconded, to approve an employment
Contract contract not to exceed one year for the position of City
Authorized Attorney should it be necessary as part of the employ-
ment negotiations. The motion carried 4-1, Council
Member Amburgey voting no.
ADJOURNMENT The Mayor declared the meeting adjourned at 3:45 p.m.
