SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF COSTA MESA
FEBRUARY 11, 1991
The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, California,
met in special session February 11, 1991, at 6:20 p.m.,
in the fifth floor Conference Room of City Hall, 77 Fair
Drive, Costa Mesa, and notice,of the special meeting was
given as required by law. The -,meeting was called to
order by the Mayor.
ROLL CALL COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor -Mary Hornbuckle
Vice -Mayor Sandra Genis
Council Member Peter Buffa
Council Member Edward Glasgow
(Arrived at 6:30 p.m.)
Council Member Jay Humphrey
COUNCIL MEMBERS ABSENT: None
OFFICIALS PRESENT: City Manager Allan Roeder
City Attorney Thomas Kathe
Deputy City Clerk Mary Elliott
Interviews Held
The following applicants were interviewed for the office
for Office of
of Planning Commissioner: Francis (Roy) Andreen, Dave
Planning
Leighton, Karen McGlinn, David Stiller, Gary Pulford,
Commissioner
Rose Volpe, Dana R. Laine, and Robert Miller.
RECESS
The Mayor declared a recess at 7:45 p.m., and the meet-
eeting
ingreconvened at 8:10 p.m.
The remaining applicants were interviewed: Robert
Bradley, Chris Taylor, Kurt W. Mueller, Mitchell
Valbuena, Robert Braun, John N. Palme, and Thomas Kirk.
The interviews ended at 9:35 p.m.
During discussion, Mayor Hornbuckle suggested sending a
letter to those applicants not selected for the Planning
Commission asking them if they would be interested in
serving on other City commissions or committees.
MOTION
On motion by Council Member Glasgow, seconded by Council
Commissioners
Member Humphrey, and carried 5-0, the following action
Selected
was taken:
Clarence Clarke was reappointed for a four-year term,
March 1, 1991, to February 28, 1995;
Walter Davenport was reappointed for a four-year
term, March 1, 1991, to February 28, 1995;
Joseph Erickson was approved for completion of his
four-year tern which expires February 28, 1993;
Michael Dunn was approved for completion of his four-
year tern which expires February 28, 1993;
Brian Theriot's four-year term was terminated; and
John N. Palme was appointed for a two-year term,
March 1, 1991, to February 28, 1993.
ADJOURNMENT The Mayor declared the meeting adjourned at 10:55 p.m.
