HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/20/1991 - City Council Special MeetingSPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF COSTA MESA MARCH 20, 1991 The City Council of the City of.Costa Mesa, California, met in special session March 20, 1991, at 7:30 p.m., in the fifth floor Conference Room of City Hall, 77 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa, and notice of the special.meeting was given as required by law. The meeting was called to order by the Mayor. ROLL CALL COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Mary Hornbuckle Vice Mayor Sandra Genis Council Member Edward Glasgow Council Member Jay Humphrey COUNCIL MEMBERS ABSENT: Council Member Peter Buffa OFFICIALS PRESENT: City Clerk Eileen Phinney Appointments to The Mayor announced that the meeting was being held to Parks, Recreation appoint commissioners for the Parks, Recreation Facili- Facilities and ties and Parkways Commission, established by Ordinance Parkways Commission 90-13, adopted September 4, 1990. RECESS Consideration was given to applications from William G. Butler Jr., Lane Calvert, Mike Chitjian, Gilbert Collins, Armando Carrasco, Alesia Erickson; Mark Hatch, Richard J. Mehren, Charles (Rus) Purcell, Mike Scheafer, Scott D. Smith, John W. Wright, and John De Witt. The following applicants were interviewed: William G. Butler, Jr., Lane Calvert, Mike Chitjian, Gilbert Collins, and Armando Carrasco. Recess was declared at 8:35 p.m., and the meeting - reconvened at 8:45 p.m. The meeting continued and the following applicants were interviewed: Alesia Erickson, Mark Hatch, Richard J. Mehren, Charles Purcell,'Scott D. Smith, and John W. Wright. After deliberation, Mayor Hornbuckle made a motion, seconded by Vice Mayor Genis, and carried 4-0, Council Member Buffa absent, to appoint the following applicants to the Parks, Recreation Facilities and Parkways Commis- sion for the specified terms of office: Alesia Erickson, Charles Purcell, and John W. Wright were appointed to four-year terms, April 1, 1991, through March 31, 1995; William G. Butler, Jr., Armando Carrasco, Richard J. Mehren, and John De Witt were appointed to two-year terms, April 1, 1991, through March 31, 1993.
