CITY OF COSTA MESA
APRIL 12, 1993
The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, California, met in
special session April 12, 1993, at 6:00 p.m., in the fifth floor
Conference Room of City Hall, 77 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa. Notice
of the special meeting was given as required by law. The meeting
was called to order by the Mayor to interview applicants for three
City Commissions.
ROLL CALL Council Members Present: Mayor Sandra Genis
Vice Mayor Jay Humphrey
Council Member Mary Hornbuckle
Council Member Peter Buffa
Council Member Joe Erickson
Council Members Absent: None
Officials Present: City Manager Allan Roeder
Interviews for Three There were six Costa Mesa residents interviewed for the Planning;
City Commissions Transportation; and Parks, Recreation Facilities, and Parkways
commissions: Pat Anthony, Kevin Austin, Carl Bureman, Lupe
Cleavinger, and Elizabeth Cowan.
MOTION A motion was made by Council Member Hornbuckle, seconded by
Cowan Appointed Vice Mayor Humphrey, to appoint Elizabeth Cowan to the Planning
to Planning Commission for a four-year term, expiring February 28, 1997. The
Commission motion carried 3-2, Council Members Buffa and Erickson voting no.
MOTION On motion by Council Member Hornbuckle, seconded by Vice
Palme and Korando Mayor Humphrey, and carried 5-0, Planning Commissioners John
Reappointed to Plan- Palme and Mark Korando were reappointed for four-year terms,

MOTION On motion by Council Member Hornbuckle, seconded by Council
Stiller and Hunt Member Buffa, and carried 5-0, David Stiller and Derald Hunt were

MOTION On motion by Council Member Buffa, seconded by Council Member
Blaisure, Butler, Hornbuckle, and carried 4-0, Council Member Erickson abstaining,
De Witt, and Mehren Diana Blaisure, William Butler, John De Witt, and Richard Mehren
Reappointed to Parks were reappointed to the Parks, Recreation Facilities, and Parkways
Commission Commission for four-year terms, expiring March 31, 1997.
ADJOURNMENT
The Mayor declared the meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
