SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF COSTA MESA
DECEMBER 11, 1995
The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, California, met in
special session December 11, 1995, at 5:15 p.m., in first floor
Conference Room A, City Hall, 77 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa,
following the regularly scheduled Study Session. Notice of the
special meeting was given as required by law. The meeting was
called to order by the Mayor.
ROLL CALL Council Members Present: Mayor Joe Erickson
Mayor Pro Tem Peter Buffa
Council Member Mary Hornbuckle
Council Member Sandra Genis
Council Member Gary Monahan
Council Members Absent: None
Officials Present: City Manager Allan Roeder
City Attorney Thomas Kathe
Deputy City Clerk Mary Elliott
NEW BUSINESS Eleven applicants were being considered for a position on the Costa
Planning Commission Mesa Planning Commission: Mary Lou Dorn, Charles S.
Appointment t Robertson, Agnes K. Dubberly, David J. Stiller, Michael B. Collier,
Brent Little, Jane Hyde, Thomas E. Steinfeld, Thomas H. Getz, v
Chris Fewell, and Judy Bolt.
MOTION After brief discussion, a motion was made by Council Member
Appoint Steinfeld Monahan, seconded by Council Member Hornbuckle, . to appoint
Thomas E. Steinfeld to the Planning Commission.
Heather Somers, 427 East 17th Street, Suite_ 307, Costa Mesa, _ f
suggested appointing Charles Robertson.
Substitute Motion A substitute motion was made by Mayor Erickson to appoint Charles
to Appoint Robertson S. Robertson to the Planning Commission. The motion died for lack
Died of a second. During discussion, Council Member Hornbuckle
recommended that Planning Commissioners attend the leagL- f
California Cities Planning Commissioners Orientation.
SUBSTITUTE Mayor Erickson made a substitute motion to appoint Charles S.
MOTION Robertson to the Planning Commission to fill the unexpired term of
Robertson Appointed John Palme, which will terminate on February 28, 1997. The
motion was seconded by Council Member Genis, and carried 4-1,
Council Member Monahan voting no.
ADJOURNMENT The Mayor declared the meeting adjourned at 5:40 p.m.
