AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA
PROVIDING FOR DISABILITY PAY TO COSTA MESA FIRE VOLUNTEERS
AND TO COSTA MESA POLICE RESERVES.
The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa does hereby ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. There is hereby added to Division IV of the Municipal Code
of the City of Costa Mesa a new section as follows:
"Sec. 2735. Disability Pay.
On and after January 1, 1964, fire volunteers and police reserves,
in all cases where sickness or injury is incurred as a result of employment on
actual duty status as a volunteer fireman or a police reserve of the City of
Costa Mesa, and is compensable under the labor Code or recommended compensation
insurance and safety laws of the State of California, and such fire volunteers
or police reserves receive disability payment under the labor Code or recommended
compensation insurance and safety laws of the State of California, such fire
volunteers or police reserves shall receive from the City the difference between
the disability payment under such code or laws, and the following:
"(a) For firemen volunteers, the maximum increment paid to fire
engineers under and pursuant to the salary schedule then in force by the City
for full-time firemen engineers.
"(b) For police reserves, the maximum increment paid to police
sergeants under and pursuant to the salary schedule then in force by the City
for full-time police sergeants."
SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force thirty
(30) days from and after its passage and prior to the expiration of fifteen
(15) days from its passage shall be published once in the ORANGE COAST DAILY
PILOT, a newspaper of general circulation, printed and published in the City
of Costa Mesa, together with the names of the members of the City Council voting
for and against the same.
