HomeMy WebLinkAbout65-12 Increase Employee Overtime 24hrsORDINANCE NO. 65-12 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA INCREASING THE MAXIMUM ACCUMULATION OF APPROVED OVERTIME BY EMPLOYEES TO TWENTY-FOUR HOURS. The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa does hereby ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Section 2713 of the Municipal Code of the City of Costa Mesa entitled: "Overtime Pay" is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section � Overtime Pay. Compensation for approved overtime shall be allowed either through a like number of working hours off without deduction from the employee's salary or compensation, or through payment for such overtime at the prevailing rate paid to the employee, determination of method to be at the discretion of the department head and with the approval of the City Manager. Compensation shall be made during the pay period in which such overtime occurred or during the next succeeding pay period, except that an employee may. with the department head's approval, accumulate such hours off duty for allowance during a subsequent pay period, to a maximum accumulation of twenty-four (24) hours." SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force thirty (30) days from and after its passage, and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days from the passage thereof shall be published once in the ORANGE COAST DAILY PILOT, a newspaper of general circulation, printed and published in the City of Costa Mesa, together with the names of the members of the City Council voting for and against the same.
