SECTION 2750 OF THE COSTA MESA MUNICIPAL CODE SHALL BE AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS: MSEC. 2750 BASIC SALARY SCHEDULE. SECTION 2. THIS ORDINANCE IS HEREBY DECLARED TO BE AN URGENCY ORDINANCE IMMEDIATELY NECESSARY FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE PUBLIC WELFARE AND SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE UPON ITS ADOPTION. THE FACTS CONSTITUTING ITS URGENCY ARE AS FOLLOWS: PERCENTAGE INCREASES IN SALARY EFFECTIVE JULY 3, 1966, GRANTED CERTAIN EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY BY ACTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL ON JUNE 6, 1966, NECESSITATE ADJUSTMENT OF THE BASIC SALARY SCHEDULE TO PROVIDE APPROPRIATE SALARY INCREMENT LEVELS. SALARY INCREASES ARE PROVIDED FOR IN THE 1966-67 BUDGET AND ARE INTENDED TO BE EFFECTIVE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR OF 1966-67. THE INTENT OF THE COUNCIL IN GRANTING SAID INCREASES COULD NOT BE CARRIED OUT IF SAID INCREASES BECAME EFFECTIVE THIRTY DAYS FROM THE COUNCIL'S APPROVAL AND PASSAGE OF THIS ORDINANCE, SECTION 3. THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE PUBLISHED ONCE IN THE ORANGE COAST DAILY PILOT, A NEWSPAPER OF GENERAL CIRCULATION PRINTED AND PUBLISHED IN THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, TOGETHER WITH THE NAMES OF THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL VOTING FOR AND AGAINST THE SAME.
