The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa does hereby ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Section 3461 of the Municipal Code of the City of Costa Mesa is, after a determination made upon the basis of an engineering and traffic survey, amended to read as follows: "Sec. 3461 Increasing State Speed Limit in Certain Zones. It is hereby determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investi- gation that the speed permitted by State law upon the following streets is less than is necessary for safe operation of vehicles thereon by reason of the designation and sign- posting of said streets as through highways and/or by reason of widely spaced intersections and it is hereby declared that the prima facie speed limit shall be as hereinafter set forth on those streets or parts of streets herein designated when signs are erected giving notice thereof: Name of Street or Portion Affected Declared Prima Facie Speed Limit ANAHEIM AVENUE from Superior Avenue to y Street 35 MPH EIGHTEENTH STREET from Anaheim Avenue to West City Limits 35 MPH HARBOR BOULEVARD from a point 300 feet north of Wilson Street to Newport Boulevard 35 MPH IRVINE AVENUE from 16th Street to North City Limits 35 MPH MESA DRIVE from Newport Boulevard to Santa Ana Avenue 35 MPH NINETEENTH STREET from Anaheim Avenue to Whittier Avenue 35 MPH ORANGE AVENUE from Mesa Drive to 15th Street 35 MFH PLACENTIA AVENUE from South City Limits to Wilson Street 35 MFH POMONA AVENUE from 16th Street to Wilson Street 35 MPH SANTA ANA AVENUE from Mesa Drive to 15th Street 35 MPH SEVENTEENTH STREET from Newport Avenue to Irvine Avenue 35 MPH SEVENTEENTH STREET from Superior Avenue to West City Limits 35 MPH SUPERIOR AVENUE from Newport Avenue to South City Limits 35 MPH TUSTIN AVENUE from 16th Street to North City Limits 35 MPH VICTORIA STREET from Placentia Avenue to Newport Avenue 35 MPH WILSON STREET from Newport Boulevard to West City Limits 35 MPH" SECTION 2. Section 3462 of the Municipal Code of the City of Costa Mesa is, after a determination made upon the basis of an engineering and traffic survey, amended to read as .follows: "Sec. 34462 Same. Decrease in Certain Zones. It is hereby determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investi- gation that the speed permitted by State law outside of business and residence districts as applicable upon the following streets is greater than is reasonable or safe under the conditions found to exist upon such streets and it is hereby declared that the prima facie speed limit shall be as herein set forth on those streets or parts of streets herein designated when signs are erected giving notice thereof: Name of Street or Portion Affected Declared Prima Facie Speed Limit ADAMS AVENUE from Harbor Boulevard to a point 900 feet west of Mesa Verde Drive 35 MPH BAKER STREET from Fairview Road to Harbor Boulevard 35 MPH BAKER STREET from Fairview Road to Bristol Street 40 MPR BRISTOL STREET from Newport Boulevard to Paularino Avenue 35 MPR FAIR DRIVE from Newport Boulevard to Harbor Boulevard 35 MPR FAIRVIEW ROAD from Newport Avenue to Baker Street 35 MPH GISIER AVENUE from Harbor Boulevard to the Santa Ana River 35 MPH HARBOR BOULEVARD from a point 300 feet north of Wilson Street to Gisler Avenue 45 MPH MESA VERDE DRIVE from Adams Avenue to Clubhouse Road 35 MPH PAULARINO AVENUE from Bristol Street to Babb Street 35 MPH SECTION S. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in fall force thirty (30) days from and after its passage, and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days from the passage thereof, this Ordinance, together with the names of the members of the City Council voting for and against the same, shall be published once in the ORANGE COAST DAILY PILOT, a newspaper of general circulation, printed and published in the City of Costa Mesa.
