Home My WebLink About71-16 - Fees for Inspection of Buildings to Determine Code Compliancei 1 ORDINANCE NO. 2� 3 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA PROVIDING FOR INSPECTION OF EXISTING BUILDINGS TO DETERMINE 4 COMPLIANCE WITH CODES AND ORDINANCES AND PROVIDING 5 FOR THE COLLECTION OF FEES FOR SAID INSPECTIONS. 6 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA DOES HEREBY 7 ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 8 SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa 9 does hereby find and declare that it becomes necessary from time 10 to time to inspect structures within the city to determine their 11 compliance with the provisions of the Uniform Building Code and 12 other applicable laws and ordinances. 13 Council further finds and declares that said request 14 for inspection may come from a buyer, seller, owner, renter, 15 lessee, or other person or entity having an estate interest in 16 said property. 17 Council further finds and declares that, in order to 18 reimburse the city for time expended in making such inspection 19 requested, as heretofore set out, a reasonable fee should be 20 charged. 21 Accordingly, Section 8108 of Chapter VIII, Article 1, 22 Costa Mesa Municipal Code, is hereby added to read as follows: 23 SECTION 2. 24 Sec. 8108."COMPLIANCE SURVEY INSPECTION. 25. Upon receipt of a written request for a compliance 26 survey from the owner and payment of the fee specified, the Building Official may inspect an 27 existing structure to ascertain its compliance with the provisions of this Code and other appli- 28 cable laws and ordinances, and report his findings in writing to the owner. 29 The fee for conducting a compliance survey of an 30 existing structure shall be $0.50 per 100 square feet or fraction thereof of floor area, but not 31 less than $25.00." 32 /// 1 2 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force thirty (30) days from and after its passage and shall, prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days from its passage, be published once in the Orange Coast Daily Pilot, a newspaper of general circulation, printed and published in the City of Costa Mesa, together with the names of the members of the City Council voting for and against the same.
