RECOMMENDATION:
1. Accept the work performed by C.J. Concrete Construction, Inc., and authorize the City Clerk to file
the Notice of Completion.
2. Release the Labor and Material Bond seven (7) months after the filing date; release the Faithful
Performance Bond one (1) year after the filing date; and release the retention monies 35 days
after the Notice of Completion filing date.
BACKGROUND:
On September 1, 2009, a construction contract in the amount of $555,091.25 was awarded to C.J.
Concrete Construction, Inc., 10142 Shoemaker Avenue, Santa Fe Springs, California, 90670.
The work performed under this contract included removal and disposal of damaged concrete
improvements and roadway sections; construction of asphalt pavement, concrete sidewalk, curb and
gutter, cross gutter and driveway; installation of traffic striping and marking; and all other pertinent and
incidental work as required.

ANALYSIS:
The work required by the contract documents was completed on December 1, 2009, to the
satisfaction of the City Engineer. The final contract cost amounted $554,993.68. A report of the final
costs is shown herein as Attachment "1."
A summary of the costs is as follows:
Original Contract Cost: $555,091.25
Final Quantity Adjustment: ($ 97.57)
Final Contract Cost: $554,993.68
The final contract price reflects a less then one percent (11%) decrease to the original contract as a result
of the aforementioned final quantity adjustments.
As of this date, there are no Stop Notices filed against the monies due to C.J. Concrete Construction, Inc.
ALTERNATIVES CONSIDERED:
There were no alternatives considered for this item.
FISCAL REVIEW:
There is no fiscal impact due to this item.
LEGAL REVIEW:
There is no legal review required on this item.
CONCLUSION:
The rehabilitation of Tustin Avenue from 15th Street to 17th Street has been completed. It is
recommended that the City Council authorize staff to file the Notice of Completion; release the
remaining retention monies 35 days after the Notice of Completion filing date; and release the bonds
accordingly.
