Broadway narrowing will result in additional land in front setback of properties - will City relinquish excess right of way to residents? 2. Resident at 388 Broadway: Sidewalk improvements will result in displaced mailboxes. This will impact mail delivery service. Improvements will cause proximity of vehicles to be closer. Triplex across the street has no parking. Diverting traffic away from Broadway makes most sense. 3. Which blocks of Broadway will be narrowed? There will be parking impacts; driveways and garages are not used for parking. 4. plower St. resident: Broadway is used for bicycling; it is beautiful as it is. Grant should be given back. 5. Will driveways be retained? Will bike tram proceed through driveways? 6. Many people seen walking and bicycling on Broadway. Project makes Broadway safer. 7. With medians, there will be loss of parking beyond immediately adjacent area. 8. Resident at 236 Broadway: Is diverting traffic onto Broadway part of scope of Newport Blvd. study (SR -55)? Gaps in sidewalk improvements are very disruptive. Bike lanes should be maintained and sidewalk extended on both sides of Broadway -combination of Options 3 & 4. How does this project fit it with Newport Blvd.? 9. No additional stop signs in options. Average speeds are approximately 55 mph -Broadway is a "drag strip" 10. No stop signs at Broadway/Raymond. Stop signs will slow down traffic. $1M grant cost vs. cost of stop signs. Danger points with Options. There is potential of DUI motorists hitting chokers and medians. 11. What is bike lane width and parking lane width? 12. Bicycles are vehicles. Potential conflicts with bike trail adjacent to driveways. Bike lanes should stay on street. 13. Should grant funds be given back? 14. Property values are higher on Broadway. Broadway narrowing will bring down values. 15. Will real grass and trees be installed in chokers and medians? 16. Improvements on Broadway will increase values. There were many neighbor conflicts during 1997 Eastside Study. Neighbors should work together. 17. Chokers at intersections cause conflicts with bicyclists. Improvements should be installed in middle. 18. Much traffic from adjacent church and preschool on Magnolia. Lack of parking will increase demand on other streets. Broadway should be used for overflow parking. Bus stops should be moved to Broadway from Santa Ana and Magnolia.. Broadway narrowing will divert traffic-people will take the fastest route. 19. Costa Mesa has secured several grants in the past. 400 block of Broadway is more representative of other residential streets. 20. Traffic calming devices should be shortened-less parking impact. 21. Improvements should be drawn on the ground to help visualize. At 300 block of Broadway, there are parking issues with disabled access in front of certain homes. 22. Will there be an occupancy study? Duplexes are over-occupied.. 23. In 10-12 years teens will be driving on Broadway. 24. Will there be new conceptual drawings incorporating resident input? Future drivers will increase parking demand. 4. Post office will work City/residents to ensure mail delivery. 5. Medians with landscaping will increase property values. 6. Housing construction/vacancies affect parking. 7. Improvements will divert traffic to other streets. 8. More visuals for future public workshops.
