SUBJECT: TEWINKLE PARK ATHLETIC COMPLEX TASK FORCE
At the September 28, 2011, Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting, the Commission voted
unanimously to recommend the formation of a nine -member task force to assist in the
development of a public-private partnership to upgrade, operate and maintain the TeWinkle
Park Athletic Complex. The proposed make up of the task force includes the following:
• Two (2) members from the Parks and Recreation Commission with two (2) alternates;
• One (1) member from a homeowner's association with one (1) alternate;
• One (1) member from the Newport -Mesa Unified School District with one (1) alternate;
• Four (4) members from the user groups with four (4) alternates;
• One (1) member from the community -at -large; and,
• One (1) member from the City Council with one (1) alternate to be a liaison to the task
force.
The Commission also voted unanimously to recommend approval of the following members and
alternates from the Parks and Recreation Commission to sit on the task force:
1. Commissioner Ethan Temianka with Alternate, Chairman Jeff Mathews; and,
2. Commissioner Dean Abernathy with Alternate, Vice Chairman Kim Pederson.
