Accept the work performed by STL Landscape, Inc. and authorize the City Clerk to file the Notice of Completion. 2. Release the Labor and Material Bond seven (7) months after the filing date; release the Faithful Performance Bond one (1) year after the filing date; and release the retention monies 35 days after the Notice of Completion filing date. BACKGROUND: On June 7, 2011 a construction contract in the amount of $79,800.00 was awarded to STL Landscape, Inc., 8122 Compton Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90001. The scope of work for this project consisted of planting 665 trees within the City's right-of-way located in Community Development Block Grant eligible areas. Planted tree at 2088 Maple Street Planted tree at 787 Joann Street 1 ANALYSIS: The work required by the contract documents was completed on August 16, 2011 to the satisfaction of the City Engineer. The final contract cost amounted to $83,575.39. A report of the final costs is included herein as Attachment "1 ". A summary of the costs is as follows: Original Contract Cost: Change Order No. 1 Final Contract Cost $79,800.00 $ 3,775.39 $83,575.39 Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $3,775.39 was issued for extra work to restore the asphalt areas adjacent to the newly -planted trees. The final contract price reflects a 4.7 percent increase to the original contract as a result of the aforementioned Change Order No. 1. As of this date, there are no Stop Notices filed against the monies due to STL Landscape, Inc. ALTERNATIVES CONSIDERED: There were no alternatives considered for this item. FISCAL REVIEW: This project was funded from appropriated CDBG funds in the Fiscal Year 2010-2011 budget. LEGAL REVIEW: There is no legal review required on this item. CONCLUSION: The 2010-2011 Community Development Block Grant Reforestation Project has been completed. It is recommended that the City Council authorize staff to file the Notice of Completion; release the remaining retention monies 35 days after the Notice of Completion filing date; and release the bonds accordingly.
