RECOMMENDATION:
1. Accept the work performed by Republic ITS and authorize the City Clerk to file the Notice of
Completion.
2. Accept the work performed by M.J. Jurado Equipment Rental, Inc. and authorize the City Clerk
to file the Notice of Completion.
BACKGROUND:
Due to the specialized nature of the construction of an illuminated crosswalk with decorative hardscape
and landscape, and the relatively small contract amount, the project was performed under two separate
small contracts: electrical and civil work. The electrical contract was awarded on August 9, 2011 to
Republic ITS, 1266 N. La Loma Circle, Anaheim, CA 92806 in the amount of $35,000.00. The civil work
was awarded under separate contract on August 9, 2011 to M.J. Jurado Equipment Rental, Inc. 726 S.
Sherrill Street, Anaheim, CA 92804 in the amount of $29,700.00
The work performed by Republic ITS consisted of the installation of a City -furnished illuminated crosswalk
system on Gisler Avenue between California Street and Iowa Street. The scope of work also included
installation of two City -furnished mast -arm poles with flashers, flashing beacons, conduit and conductors,
crosswalk controller system, and electrical service cabinet assembly.
The scope of work performed by M.J. Jurado Equipment Rental, Inc. included construction of hardscape
and landscape improvements including median islands, curb & gutter, sidewalk, handicap ramps, inter-
locking pavers and decorative concrete crosswalk.

ANALYSIS:
The required work was completed on September 1, 2011 to the satisfaction of the City Engineer. The
final contract costs amounted to $64,700.00.
As of this date, there are no Stop Notices filed against the monies due to Republic ITS and M.J. Jurado
Equipment Rental, Inc.
ALTERNATIVES CONSIDERED:
There were no alternatives considered for this item.
FISCAL REVIEW:
These contracts were funded entirely from Air Quality Management District (AQMD) funds.
LEGAL REVIEW:
There is no legal review required on this item.
CONCLUSION:
The Safe Route to School (SR2S) Illuminated Crosswalk Project has been completed. It is
recommended that the City Council authorize staff to file the Notice of Completion.
