RESOLUTION NO. 14-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE
SUBMITTAL OF APPLICATION FOR BUS STOP
IMPROVEMENTS AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS TO THE
ORANGE COUNTY TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY
FOR FUNDING UNDER PROJECT W SAFE TRANSIT
STOPS PROGRAM
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA HEREBY RESOLVES,
DETERMINES AND ORDERS AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa desires to participate in the Project W Safe
Transit Stops Program (the "Program"); and
WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa (the "City") will act as the lead agency in
designing, constructing, and maintaining bus stop improvements and Orange County
Transportation Authority will function as the funding agency under Project W Safe
Transit Stop Program (the "Grant") administered by the Orange County Transportation
Authority ("OCTA"); and
WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa has been declared by the Orange County
Transportation Authority to meet the eligibility requirements"to receive revenues as part
of Project W; and
WHEREAS, Project W funding is available for 100 bus stop locations across
Orange County, of which three (3) are in the City of Costa Mesa; and
WHEREAS the City of Costa Mesa desires to implement bus stop improvements
at the following bus stop locations:
1. Northbound Harbor Boulevard north of Victoria Street,
2. Eastbound Wilson Street east of Harbor Boulevard, and
3. Southbound Harbor Boulevard south of Wilson Street; and
WHEREAS, the City is in agreement with the terms, conditions and limitations of
any such Grant; and
WHEREAS, the City is willing and able to conform to each of the terms,
conditions and limitations imposed upon any such Grant to the City; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to accept any such Grant which may be awarded to
the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa hereby requests the Orange County
Transportation Authority allocate funds in the amounts specified in the Grant application
for the Project W Safe Transit Stops Program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa,
California, does hereby authorize the Costa Mesa Director of Public Services or
designee, to file applications and accept the Grant funds for the 2014-2015 Fiscal Year,
and to invoice Orange County Transportation Authority for payment of allocated funds
as appropriate, for and on behalf of the City of Costa Mesa.
