Home My WebLink About92-97 - Declaring Results of General Plan Municipal Elections945 RESOLUTION NO. 92-97 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON NOVEMBER 3, 1992, DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW. WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of Costa Mesa, California, on Tuesday, November 3, 1992, as required by law; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 92-71 adopted July 6, 1992, the election was consolidated with the Statewide General Election; the Registrar of Voters of the County of Orange canvassed the returns of said election, certified the results to this City Council, and said results were received and are attached as Exhibit "A"; and WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and regularly given in time, form, and manner as provided by law; and that in all respects, said election was held and conducted and the votes cast thereat, received and canvassed, and the returns were made and declared in the time, form, and manner as required by the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. There were 74 Voting Precincts plus 6 Absentee Precincts established for the purpose of holding said election consisting of the regular election precincts in said City as established for holding State and County elections. SECTION 2. The whole number of Precinct Ballots cast in the City was 34,584; the number of Absentee Ballots cast was 4,722; and the total number of ballots cast was 39,306. SECTION 3. That the names of persons voted for at the election for Member of the City Council were as follows: KEVIN H. AUSTIN, CHRIS STEEL, SANDRA L. (SANDY) GENIS, JOE ERICKSON, DENIS W. RETOSKE, GARY MONAHAN, STEPHEN J. McGUIRE, KAREN McKENNA-JUERGENS, MARY HORNBUCKLE, BRIAN K. THERIOT, and DONALD D. WILLIAMS. SECTION 4. The number of ballots given at each precinct and the number of votes given in the City to each of the persons above named for Member of the City Council were as listed in Exhibit "A" attached. SECTION 5. The City Council does hereby declare and determine that SANDRA L. GENIS, MARY HORNBUCKLE, and JOE ERICKSON were elected as Members of the City Council of said City for full four-year terms. SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall enter into the records of the City Council of said City, a statement attached as Exhibit "B", showing the result of said election as follows: (1) The whole number of votes cast in the City; (2) The names of the persons voted for; (3) The office each person was voted for; (4) The number of votes given at each precinct to each person; (5) The number of votes given in the City to each person. SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall immediately make and deliver to each of such persons so elected, a Certificate of Election signed by the City Clerk and duly authenticated; that the City Clerk shall also administer to each person elected, the Oath of Office prescribed in the State Constitution of the State of California and shall have them subscribe thereto and file the same in the office of the City Clerk. Whereupon, each and all of said persons so elected shall be inducted into the respective office to which they have been elected. SECTION 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original resolutions of said City; and shall make a minute passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
