HomeMy WebLinkAbout442 - Calling Municipal Election April 8, 1958RESOLUTION NO. 442 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF ME CITY OF COSTA MESA CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, THE 8TH DAY OF APRIL, 1958, FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN OFFICERS OF SAID CITY AS REQUIRED BY THE PROVISIONS OF THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA RELATING TO CITIES OF THE SIXTH CLASS. WHEREAS, under the provisions of the laws relating to cities of the sixth class in the State of California, a general municipal election shall be held on the 8th day of April, 10-", for the election of two members of the City Council of said City for the full terms provided by law; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERY7NE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That pursuant to the req!3rements of the laws of the State of Californ9a relating to municipal corporations of the sixth class, there shall be, and there is hereby, called and ordered held in the City of Costa Mesa, County of Orange, State of California, on Tuesday the 8th day of April, 1958, a regular gen- eral municipal election of the qualified electors of said City for the purpose of to form and matter contained therein, such as may be required by law to be used thereat. G5g SECTION j. That the City Clerk of said City is hereby authorized, instruct- ed and directed to procure and furnish any and all offs_ci.al ballots, notices, printed matter and all supplies, equipment and paraphernalia that may be necessary in order to properly and lawfully conduct said election. SECTION L. That for the purpose of holding said regular general municipal election, there shall be seventeen (17) voting precincts within the said City con- sisting of consolidations of the regular election precincts established for holding State and County elections. The respective precincts, polling places of said res- pective precincts, and the respective boards of election for said respective precincts are hereby fixed, designated, appointed and established as follows: VOTING PRECINCT 1, comprising state and county precincts Nos. 1 and jl POLLING PLACE: CITY HALL, 605 West 19th Street INSPECTOR: Lillian W. Butler JUDGE: Anne M. Parmenter CLERKS: Semone T. Otto and Hazel I. Mearns electing two members of the City Council of said City for the full term prescribed by law. SECTION 2. That the ballots to be used at said election shall be, both as to form and matter contained therein, such as may be required by law to be used thereat. G5g SECTION j. That all of the persons hereinabove named as election officers are hereby appointed as such election officers, respectively, and their compensation is hereby fixed at the sum of $18.00 for each inspector, and $15.00 for each judge and clerk, for said election. The rental for each of such polling places, where a charge is made, shall be the sum of $10.00 for said election. SECTTON 6. That the polls for said election shall be open at seven o'clock A.M., of the day of said election, and shall remain open continuously from said time until seven o'clock P.M., of the same day, when said polls shall be closed, except as provided in Section 5734 of the Elections Code of the State of California. in said City. SECTION 8. That notice of the time and place of holding said election is hereby given and the City Clerk is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to give such further or additional notice of said election as is required by law. SECTTON 7, That in all particulars not rec ted in this resolution, said election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections in said City. SECTION 8. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original resolutions of said City; and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the minites of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
