RESOLUTION NO. 87-111
A RESOLUTION CF THE CITY COUNCIL CF THE CITY OF
COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT CF THE
SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON
NOraMBE R 3, 1987, DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF
AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, a Special Municipal Election was held and conducted in the
City of Costa Mesa, California, on Tuesday, November 3, 1987; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 87-87 adopted August 6, 1987, the
election was consolidated with the School Election and the Registrar of
Voters of the County of Orarge canvassed the returns of said election and
has certified the results to this City Council, said results are received,
attached as "Exhibit A"; and
WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and regularly given in time,
form, and manner as provided by law; and that in all respects said election
was held and conducted arra the votes cast thereat, received and canvassed
and the returns made and declared in time, foam, and manner as required by
the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California.
NOW, THEREFCRE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIF-
ORNIA, DOES HERMY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That there were 50 voting precincts plus 1 absentee pre-
cinct establishd for the purpose of holding said election.
SECTION 2. That the whole number of votes cast in the City except
absentee votes was 5,739; that the whole number of absentee votes cast in
the City was 460, making a total of 6,199 votes cast in the City. The
total number cf voter ballots cast in the City was 6,264.
SECTION 3. That said Special Municipal Election was held for the
purpose cf submittirg to the voters the question relating to an appropria-
tions limit increase, to wit:
MEASURE "C"
To provide more safety for the public, bo improve the condition of
City streets, curbs, gutters, parkways arra sidewalks, and to fund
the construction of new sidewalks for pedestrian safety and canmunity
improvement, shall the appropriations limit of the City of Costa Mesa
be increased to the amount cf the actual proceeds cf taxes received
in each year for the four fiscal years starting with Fiscal Year
1985-86?
SECTION 4. That the number of votes given at each precinct and the
number of votes given in the City for and against Measure "C" were listed
in Exhibit "A" attached.
SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall enter in the records of the City
Council of a said City, a statement attached as "Exhibit B", of the result of
said election, showing:
(1) The whole number cf votes cast in the City;
(2) The measure voted upon;
(3) The number cf votes given at each precinct for and against said
Measure "C"
SECTION 6. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage arra adop-
tion cf this Resolutiron and enter it into the book of original resolutions.
